Whitethroat with Damselfly
Been a while since i posted anything here, and im not sure about this one, the nettle bottom right over its foot bothers me, but the rest of the shot outweighs it (for me anyway) just wondered what you guys think ?

Nice shot of the bird with a male banded demoiselle. The nettle does not bother me, the only thing that does is that the bird is a little large within the frame for my personal taste. Beautifully exposed, and a nice background.

Hi Ian,

Nettle covering the foot does not bother me, a nice pose on the bird and a great prey item, the BG is super. I do feel however, that it is not critically sharp, with the eye looking slighty soft, try a bit more USM.

I think we get too hung up on trivial details, its a lovely shot and the chances of repeating it without the foot being hidden are about nil. I would be chuffed to bits with it. I agree with Rob that it could stand a little more sharpening, but I wouldn't go mad with it. I like frame-fillers especially at 720 pixels. Lovely.

A good image and the colourful prey makes it a bit more special.

Not every day you witness the taking of one of these. Good comp.
As suggested perhaps a small amount of sharpening around the head. :toast:

thanks all for the comments :) ill have a look at giving a minor sharpen round the eye, im always wary of overcooking it and making it look awful, so tend to be a little over cautious.
