Another shot of Russell from the previous set.
I kind of like the bw.
Make that Mt. Williamson.
Preston was nice enough to send me an email and kindly mentioned I might want to consult a topo map so I did. Well, I have yet to see a side of that mountain that wouldn't make a nice photo. Thanks Preston.
Wow seems like a very productive trip out there. I'm going to try to go back for the fall. Anyway this is really nice. I think the FG ridge could use some local contrast.

Thanks, guys. Maybe I should keep posting from that morning until you guys shoot me.
Some of the stuff shot with the 2x tele is sharp and some is not.
I just don't know much about using it. IS or no IS?
Some of the handheld shots w/ the IS on came out pretty sharp and some with the tripod came out not so sharp.
Now looking at it on my home screen, I think the left foreground ridge could use a contrast bump. The snow looks a bit gray. I don't have IS on my Canon (or 4x5) lenses, so I can't help you out with the IS question.

Thanx for the suggestion Mat and Harley. I really like it now.
Sometimes it's hard to not pick up noise when you're trying to burn the area where the sky transitions to breaking up clouds.
Nice... I particularly like the added contrast of the last post. The tonal range looks very nice to my eyes. I could also maybe see this working well as a 4x5 with a crop off the left side.
By the way, did you turn off the IS when you were shooting from the tripod? That might have been the source of sharpness problems.

It might need some more contrast.
