Be careful where you scratch! It is amazing how fast elk antlers are growing right now - seems to be far ahead of previous years. By mid summer this "soft" velvet will turn into bone hard and quite sharp antler - this big boy would have to be very good with his aim then...

You use what you have when things itch! Great capture! Exposure, color and detail are excellent. Crop (assuming it is a crop) seems a bit tight to me; however, as an action shot it works well as is.

That's the advantage of having big antlers. I bet the smaller bucks wished they could scratch that hard to reach spot. Great capture Tim! :jump:

Looks like you had quite the "Candid Camera" when you shot this. With all the ticks I've found this year, I certainly can relate to Mr. Elk's urge to scratch. Great shot Tim - thanks for sharing.

That would not be pretty if those antlers were sharp. Pretty bokeh... 600mm VR F4?

300 2.8 w/extender or something like that - I just grabbed what I had in the bag, kind of like what he was doing....

Here is a shot you don't see everyday. Great behavioral shot Tim but what makes this for me is the eyes ... his wide eyes seem to say "boy if I miss this itch by just that much heaven help me"!

Nice capture! I know how he feels, I've got poison ivy right now :frown:
