A final shot from my recent Orkeny visit, this time of a great skua or bonxie. I am familiar with these birds from Shetland, and by and large find them more approachable there. At least the Orkney ones didn't dive bomb us. One thing I was intrigued with, the tongue and gape of this individual are near white. Somehow seems inappropriate for such an out-and-out predator.
