Buzzard on a branch (C)
I spent a day recently at on owl sanctuary, practising my hand held skills. The flight shots that were in focus were badly framed, and the shots that were framed better were out of focus. Never mind, that's why we practise.

I had a few shots of the bird landing, but just preferred this pose. This was one of those days when the wind was coming from opposite the sun, and since the bird always lands in to the wind, it meant that all the shots were backlit.

I have done no PP on this pic, and it is FF. Should I crop, or enhance it some way?

Hi Mike,

I love the pose you've caught here and the grasses along the bottom of the frame work really well.
Exposure looks good in what could have been a tricky situation. I can't think of much I'd change really except perhaps cropping a little off of the right to de-centralize the bird a little more.
You obviously weren't aware, but for captive subjects, you need to put a C in brackets after your images title, just so there's no confusion between what's been shot in captivity or in the wild. Not that there would be any misunderstanding with your shot as you clearly state it's from an owl sanctuary.

Thanks Justin. I've put the C in now. Its always good to have comments, rather than just compliments (assuming the picture warrants these). :toast:

given the circumstances you discribed I think you did very well, maybe a little bit sharpening.

cheers, Dennis
