We've all seen in-flight Puffin shots and the classic with the Sandeels so I wanted to show something different. (Not saying my idea is completely original or unique).
Anyway, the Puffins of Skomer are packed in tight with this particular burrow facing out on the path and so could be photographed without being too intrusive. They appear quietly and you can find yourself surrounded where a couple of seconds before there were none. I reckon the eyes could have been sharper - it was dark in there.
It's alway's an appealing viewpoint with them peering out of their burrows like this.
I like the viewpoint but the image isn't quite working for me if I'm honest, mainly because of the harsh light and to a lesser degree, the bit of folliage across the eye.
If it was a cloudy/sunny day then waiting untill the sun disappeared for a minute would have made a world of difference to this particular scene IMHO.

Hi, have to agree with justin, light looks very harsh and comp not quite ideal. But then I can see exactly what you are trying to achieve. It least it gives you an excuse to revisit
