Most times when I take a photo into CS3 for editing and then close it, the photo stays in the same order in the filmstrip. Sometimes, however, it gets moved to the end of the strip, and I can't seem to be able to find where to change this. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! Sharon

You may have "Sort:" set to "Edit time". (Look in the Toolbar, Library Module, right below the image, right corner.)

Thanks, Alan. I couldn't find anything in preferences. That may be it...and I appreciate your help. Sharon

As Alan pointed out, Lightroom's Sort Order in Library Grid is set by the dropdown menu on the Toolbar.

When you make new files via the Edit in Photoshop process, you'd probably want them next to the Original. Setting the Sort Order to File Name or Capture Time will do this - in most cases.

Also, there is a special sort order called User Order, where you can drag and drop images to rearrange them. However, this User Order is NOT available in the All Photographs or Previous Import sources. You need to be working in a Folder or Collection to drag and drop to rearrange photos.

If you are seeing strange sort orders, first check your current image source, then check the setting on the toolbar.

(I cover this stuff in detail in my Lightroom 2 book.
