Holy mother of pearl.....was it windy!
Holy mother of pearl...was it windy! That's to say the least.

This was last night about 5 minutes before sunset from the top of the Mount Evans. The road from summit lake to the top was icey and wind blown dunes in places, I can't believe it was actually open to the top. In all the years I have gone to Evans I have never seen the road open like this. One thing was driving to the top another was actually getting out of the car at the summit parking lot without being blown over. With pack on my bag and my girlfriend in tow we headed to the summit, what were we thinking. Believe it or not at the summit we got lucky and found a couple of big boulders to shelter us for the most part from the gale force winds.

Driving back up the road this morning wasn't much better than coming down last night. After I shower and warmup I will post some more shots.

Totally awesome shot, well worth enduring the wind for.

The very bright urc is a bit overdone for me, even though I know you probably want to show it's intensity. And the warm light is a contradiction to the cold I know you must have felt in these conditions. The layers are great, and the windblown snow is incredible.

Crappy conditions result in crowning photographic achievements! That's an awesome shot, Jody, can't wait to see more.

That looks pretty exciting! Glad you managed to get a picture of the conditions and a spectacular image at that! :toast:

My wife and I were up there about 3:30 and man it was cccold! 51 at the base and 31 at the summit. We took a few shot and came back down in a snunder storm. Lightning, thunder and snow. Took a couple shots but nothing like yours Jody.

Looks like it was totally worth suffering the conditions. Fantastic!

Hi Jody,
Wow, nice shot! It does look really windy. I agree that the warm tones detract from conveying a feeling of cold in the image, but I like the depth, and you captured the windy conditions well.
