I just got my new camera... and OMG - this will take some time to digest... all I can say now is a huge THANK YOU.... when it makes more sense to me I am sure I will have more to say about it, but you guys are the best...! I am speechless...

OK.... sorry for being cryptic. It took me a while to find out what actually happened: apparently, a group of RMNPers, spurred to action by a certain Todd C. (who wishes to remain anonymous ;-), passed the hat and contributed toward my purchase of a new [replacement] camera.

What an incredibly generous -- and sneaky -- thing to do!

My unending gratitude goes out to all who contributed; it made a big difference and I am happy to say I am toting my own gear again... and will get it properly insured today!!

I've long known that this group is made up of excellent individuals; this is a totally unexpected example of the fine character(s) of RMNP.

I am at once proud and humbled.

What the hell happened to "please keep the organizer anonymous"? WTF, people? Actually this makes it easier, because some of your fellow forum denizens' generosity arrived a little late to get to you before your purchase (you just HAD to have that camera NOW, didn't you, Nat!:biggrin:), and rather than just sending their contributions back to them, I will deposit them and mail you a check. Just e-mail me with your snail mail address, Mr. Coalson! This is a pretty amazing group of people, ain't it?

I think this time you went beyond the call of duty. Thanks to you and all the contributors for your generosity and caring on behalf of Nat.

I was not aware of this "movement". If it is not too late to contribute let me know. I think I have a few quarters laying around I can do without.
