OT: My attempt at downtown Denver
I was so impressed with Michael Deleons' Downtown image that I just had to go there and try it myself. I didn't have the lightning and refelctions he has and I don't know how to make those lights get the starburst effect but I was still happy with what came out. I also cropped for a pano effect. C&C welcome.

Thanks,
Jack

Jack, very nice, well executed, only question is over the crane and I can't decide myself whether it is good or bad. It is a focal point I think.

I would agree with Bill, I'm undecided on the crane too; apart from that it looks very nice!. Well exposed, nice colours.

Nice vantage point. To get the starburst effect, just stop down your aperture to something like F16 or higher. The higher you go, the more of the starburst effect you get (i.e., F29 would be very starburst-y).

Great shot Jack.
As far as the crane goes, I make thos red dots to be lights that serve as a warning to aircraft. I beleive they are part of the landscape and should remain. I suspect that the critics, of those lights, would prefer they be removed. The choice is yours.

Nicely done Jack! Jeff is correct in regards to getting a greater starburst effect. And I don't see anything wrong with the crane being there...it just shows that the city is never static and continues to grow! I was also taking photos around Denver last night.. still haven't looked at them yet. We should meet up and I could show you some "secret" locations

Thanks for the comments so far and for the tips on starburst. I'm glad you didn't mind my copying your work Michael and yeah I'd love to hook up with you for some shooting. Drop me an email. As for the crane, I think it adds to the scene and does show the city is constantly changing. Things that I really like are the roller coaster, that little vertical red light in the lower center and the blue vertical light on the building to the right....actually I like it all! I printed this to 13X30 on my Epson R1900 and it looks AWESOME!

I don't mind the crane either. It will be a historic shot of the Four Seasons being built. Nice to see The Spire is finished now too, I like how they lit up the side of the building. Jeff is correct regarding the stars, they are more likely to appear when you use smaller apertures, just be careful of loss of sharpness due to diffraction.

Hi Jack,
Very nice shot of downtown. I agree with the others about the crane, it doesn't bother me. To me, it adds to the shot. Nice image.
