I wanted some "mushy" and "unmushy" puffins - and got'em both.

I was wanting to see the eye detail, and "mush" doesn't do much to help that, so I was very pleased with this.

On the full-rez you can see "yours truly" and some 'plank' who stood up all the time reflected in the eye.

It took some waiting to get this 'puffy' into the right place for the shot - light looks overcast; and it wasn't believe me - but he walked into the smallest of shadows and Bingo!

I like the way you've talked through the photo. We all know what we want from particular shots and that isn't always what we see. It's nice to know you're happy with it and that your preparation has worked well!

I've got a list of Puffin shots I still 'need' so hopefully this weekend will provide them.

Nice work with the whites too.

A very smart candidate, a shot that just has to be done.
Nice one

That plank you're on about. Was it a scaffold plank ?LOL
Glad you didn't pick the mucky mushy puffin. Smart image bud, and you may disagree here ,but worth the walk.

Complimentary clean BG here Andy and the eye looks good even this small.

There's some very wise saying regarding "planks" in the eye if I recall......
