Lake Michigan sunset

Shot this near Point Beach in Wisconsin a few weeks back. Had an awesome time wading in the cool waters of Lake Michigan shooting.

Comments/suggestions always appreciated

Thanks,
Kevin

Looks like a neat place to spend some time. Like the way the water movement shows up.

Looks good.

The only thing I'd do different is have alot more orange clouds , but oddly we have no control over that!

I agree Darren, if only we had the ability to add clouds at will...

Nice photo! My crit would be either a ND grad next round to knock the sky down a little or perhaps in Photoshop or Lightroom you could do a post-process grad filter on the sky.

Really love the water movement.

But, it does work well as-is.

A very nice photo Kevin. I too would suggest a density mask on the sky to really make it pop more. I personally would prefer an 8x10 crop vs the full size here, it is just a little too much water for me that pulls away too much from the shore and sky. Love the shot...Well done. :toast:

Thanks guys,

I did shoot this with a .6 GND, but maybe it wasn't quite strong enough. I'm always concerned about making the grad areas too noticeable in the image.

I did try some cropped versions as well, but the water motion was a big part of this shot for me, maybe because I was so excited to be in the Lake for the first time this year...

Kevin, the sharp rocks/strata against that screaming fast water makes one wild contrast. Nice comp too, because it leaves you feeling a wee bit helpless, like your just a tad too far out offshore, real good emotion coming off of there. Nice work!

Love the color palette Kevin. Nice sweeping diagonal lines and an all around nice scene.
