Storm chasing
Steven P (my resident NOAA weather forecaster) called me up last night and told me to look up above Longmont at the rotating storm, it was pretty threatening. 30 minutes later we decided to grab cameras and chase the storm for a while, well it was moving pretty darn fast, faster than we could keep up. We ended up in Weld County, SE of Greeley, and just found a spot to capture the clouds.
So here's a few images showing the nature of the beast, quite impressive to see with the eye.

I like number 2 as well, sounds like you worked hard for these Nick!

Very cool Nick - #2 is awesome!! I could see that cloud from down in the south metro Denver area. I thought about grabbing my camera and driving up that way, but the cold beer in my hand quickly won that argument. Damn you BEER!!!!!

Truly impressive beasts, Nick!

Nice set Nick. Good thing we stayed behind this one as it was tossing out 1.75" hailstones to the north (image lhs).

And just for the record, I am not a NOAA forecaster. I just play one from the couch.

I really like these...especially #1. That storm did indeed look threatening, but that's an understatement!

Very dramatic stuff!
#2 looks especially apocalyptic, and is my favorite of the lot.

I love the subtle color of #3!

Great set of photos, I think 1 and 2 best capture the sheer mass and power. Though the subtle color in the last is also pretty sweet.

The clouds in the vertical shot are awesome, must have been incredible in person.
Nice work.

Looking at #2, I'm glad I wasn't in it's path. Very nice...

SWEET! You should submit shots like these to news@kktv.com when you get them and they'll show them in the weather segment. You can do the same with KCNC in Denver!
