I am considering the purchase of a
Canon 5D camera or perhaps the newer
Canon 5D Mark II. I presently have a
Canon 10D. The tripod that I use is
a Bogen Manfrotto 3443. Made of graphite,
it's not as heavy as other tripods. That
feature helps me with hiking.

Will there be any problem using a Canon 5D or
5D Mark II with this tripod? I suspect that
either of these cameras will be heavier than
my Canon 10D. Will that create a vibration/shake
problem that could blur my images?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Robert,

I own both a 10D and 5DII and for me the difference is negligible - 1.74 lbs vs. 1.87 lbs. I use the same CF legs I used with the 10D without a problem - Velbon EL Carmagne 630A . Although I eventually upgrade the ball head.

Of course with any lighter tripod there will be potentially more movement. But I don't think you will notice a difference. The lenses used are more noticable for me (eg - prime vs heavy zoom).

Thanks, Derek. From your response I feel safe to go with the tripod
that I have.

Robert, you could always double check with Bogen or your tripod head's company what the maximum wieght limit is just to be safe your under it.
