Pssst! Turn around!
Advice to live by, utilized this morning in the Wet Mountain Valley.

Canon EOS 5D *Classic* w/45mm tilt-shift lens.

(please note: compression is muting color and detail in this one.)

Fantastic Todd. The sky is pretty torched, but the sunstar makes it work.

A few moments earlier. Better sky?

A few hours earlier. Better sky?

wow, look at those flowers! I REALLY like #2, although they're all great images. There's a good tilt on that last one - or maybe I'm just spinning.

Hey man, gimme a break, I was composing in total darkness! (Actually, you're right, but I'm just too tired to fix it right now...)

Digging #2 here. Great sea of color you captured with the clouds above the hills.

I think I just swallowed my Tongue as I Gasped! That First Shot is just way beyond any shot of yours I have ever seen! #2 is no slouch either! Man I think there's a Vibe passing through the group! :wavey: Wildflower Virus!

And another one.

Wow, man you're leaving us all in the dust with your wildflowers shots Todd - I'm digging #1, but they're all great!.
Posted by Joshua Hardin on June 22, 2009 at 3:34 PM
#2 is ridiculously good, I love the colors and comp. I also like the last one.

WOW! I was hoping to find some wildflowers to shoot for "My Day" on Sunday with my family. Instead we ended up in Breckenridge for the afternoon (still fun). Looks like Westcliffe is the place to be!
Thanks for the lovely inspiration!

Jeez, an awesome series here! Looks like a Caudle all-nighter - how did you manage those trails without your battery crapping out? I like 'em all, but there's something special about #1 with the sun so dominant.

I'm really liking #2 followed by that last one. Wonderful shots all around.

Ok, It's like he couldn't get enough accolades with the first three images so he has to post a fourth. These are all excellent Todd. I'm really liking 2 and 4. I got to get out there and learn to do the star trails this year because that is an excellent shot too!

Wow Todd! These are all terrific! My fav is 2, but I would hang any of them in a minute. Very very nice work!

Wow, #2 is just fantastic, what with the clouds echoing the colors of the flowers. Brilliant!

Hmmm....some of those locations look a little familiar! Looks like morning beats the pants off of evening for that area.

Damn nice shots, especially the first two. Seems like more flowers have bloomed just since Friday evening.

I cannot say that I like the first post. The 2nd and 4th are absolutely great. The colors, comps, and light are outstanding. I also like the startrail shot very much. Thank you very much for posting these.

Bravo!!
Simply gorgeous collection! I like 'em all, but the first two with that carpet of red and blue flowers are my favorites.
And of course, I always enjoy a fine star trails image.
Would love to know the particulars (camera settings, time of evening) if you get a chance.
Hopefully you have just as good of luck here in the San Juans tomorrow.

Wow, the flower shots look like something the guys in the PNW forum post. Very cool stuff here, Todd.

Hey John M., star trails shot was with the Tokina 17mm for one hour at f3.5, iso100, in-camera noise reduction. All three of the others are two shots combined, one for the sky/mountaintops, one for everything else, with a digital grad filter to make 'em match. Pretty much shot at f11 w/45mm tilt-shift lens and varied the shutter speed, iso200.

I can't decide which one the best so I'll pick two. #2 and #4 do it for me.
Posted by Stephen Trainor on June 22, 2009 at 11:40 PM
#2 in particular is stunning! How long do you reckon those flowers will last down there?
Posted by Todd Caudle on June 23, 2009 at 12:49 AM
I took these two weeks ago, so they're already gone. JUST KIDDING! If some of the monsoon moisture they're talking about wets down the flowers over the next few days, they should last another week or so. But this heat is gonna bake 'em but good!
Posted by Stan Rose on June 23, 2009 at 4:04 AM
Yeah, the heat is on, its gonna bake im afraid. Nice of you to get them while they were there though--i love the last one and the star trail is cool too once you clean it up.

Nice shots Todd. I like the sky and color in the second image.
Posted by Don Grall on June 23, 2009 at 2:37 PM
Wow, Todd, great series, #2 and #4 are some of the best wildflower shots I've seen taken in Colorado. The star trails shots is wonderful too. How does the noise level look at 100% pixels? 5D or 5DII ?

Man I think you should have stayed home with wife instead the other night, I am mean you have nothing to show for your efforts.......
