This species became my nemesis I have been trying to get within striking range for three years. Having spotted them the location 30feet from a concrete road bridge. I know the cable perch is gross but look at the bird she is a stunner in my eyes.
The cable is where they sit then dive from over a spillway river. Not every day they have been missing for a month or so but they always return. I have yet to see them capture a fish or feed.
1D3 beanbag 800mm and a lot of luck. RAW resized in PS not sure how to retrieve the shooting data.

Barry, my first impression is that the background looks noisey, so maybe a little guassian blur would sort that out for you, secondly the bird looks a little soft. I'm going to add that I'm on my laptop here which is a vintage model held together with gaffer tape so the problems could well be my end. One other thing, I find the catchlight in an eye can be lifted just a little with judicious use of the Dodge tool in PS.
Sharp but not pin sharp, was it very windy ?? The head tuft suggests it was.
Sent you an e-mail, perhaps a wind breaker is in order, you know the one, big and silver.
If they start coming regularly, get there early and introducing a perch, there is a better than even chance they will use it.
All in all, a good capture/image which I’m sure you can build on. Good luck, look forward to seeing more from this site.

first let me congratulate you on finally capturing one. Agree about softness and BG, is this a big crop? I also think their's too much blue in the bird and cable. You should be able to fix all that in PS.
