Been so carried away past 2 weeks shooting feathered friends and storms, almost forgot about these few images.
This particular morning a cloud bank blocked the sunrise right at 5.30am, but I figured I'd hang around and see what happens. The cloud bank was fairly thin, so within 30 minutes or so the sun was flitting in and out, and being diffused nicely. Also the clouds started rolling in more and more, and the moon shifted closer to the flatirons, albeit very small in a wide angle image.

I love #1 and #2. I like #3 for the cloud drama, but I miss the flowers (I do like the way you got the moon in there). I really like the comp on the B&W, but I think it needs a boost in contrast to make it come alive. I'd say you had a really productive day, Nick.
Thanks guys on the feedback for the B&W, you're right it does need a bit more contrast, and maybe #4 too. I re-worked some of the colour ones, but not those!.
Oi - nice stuff Nick. I was up there on the 20th with my MeetUp group - the light wasn't nearly as nice. I stuck around 'till 9:30 and the clouds never really lifted.
I was amazed by the multitude of ladybug - at least 3 different species, sometimes on a single flower stalk.
Best series from the Flatirons that I've seen this year!
I like every one of them, and the use of b&w was good for the last one.
I wonder how well b&w would work with #4. I prefer the less shrouded monoliths and more blue sky, and think that with a dark (near black?) sky, the moon would really pop and you would have a more contrasty image. I can get just a taste of the dark sky in the current b&w image and it looks pretty good.
And one more if interested, a Horizontal of #1. Sorry for the multiple posts, I'm interested in which ones people prefer, since I'll probably use one in a local show this year.
Well....that was fast!
I don't know about you, but I greatly prefer the second b&w image for the reasons noted earlier!
I also greatly prefer the horizontal version of #1 (last image posted) for the reason that Bob stated.
I also prefer it over #2 for the greater range of flowers present.
If it were me, I believe that I would go with the last two, Nick.
I hardly ever check back once I've responded, but I'm glad I did. I think the last one and #2 tie for the color versions. You won't go wrong with whatever you pick. Really nice work, Nick.

Great shots all around, Nick! I really like the last two posts...but hard to choose a favorite from the bunch, they are all nice!

#3 and #4 are like nothing I usually see from this location. Very nice! Although I agree with contrast issues. And the last horizontal comp is by far the best of the flower images, IMO. The black/whites don't do much for me though.
Boy, you really made the most out of that trip. You've got so many nice shots here it is tough to choose! I do like the vertical #1, but then I like the last horizontal one you posted as it gives the flowers a little more breathing room. Great shots. And love the last B&W image you posted with the moon. Nicely done!

I'm with Paul on the B&W. On my monitor, it could use more contrast to add some punch.
