OK, here’s the deal. I need to get a Nikon D700x – 24 Meg camera. Yes, I know it doesn’t exist at this time, but we can fix that easy enough. Why not go with a camera Nikon already makes? For what I do, the D700 isn’t enough Megs and I would have to rob a bank to get the D3x. Although I wouldn’t call it "robbing" as much as just getting some of the money they took from us back, the FBI might not agree with me on that one. So, how do we fix this problem? Well, it seems anytime I order a new camera or software, almost immediately a new upgraded version is announced. I have always considered this a negative (usually expressed in torrent of swear words directed towards the company), but now see it has possibilities. Anyone else that wants (or needs) a Nikon D700x can send me $50. When I get enough, I will buy a D700 and within a very short time I can almost guarantee Nikon will announce the D700x. See how easy it is. A mere $50 to get Nikon to come out with this camera. Isn’t that worth it to you?
My skills can also be used for price reductions. If I order a product that is not being replaced with a new one, the second it hits my doorstep, the online price will drop at least 10%.
Murphy's law will come into play this time. As soon as you by the D700 assuming that a new one will come out, Nikon will delay the release of the D700x. There will be some comment in the announcement about decreased demand, or something along those lines.
Nice try.

LOL. I completely agree George, although I'm not placing any bets on seeing a D700x this year (there may be a slight outside chance for a Nov/Dec announcement though) The current rumors are that we'll see a D300s and D4000 announced first. The waiting continues...

Same reason I've never bought a radar detector. It's my selfless service to all my fellow leadfoots out there.
