Bewdley Fisherman
Cormorant
Coming back from a shopping trip the other week I saw this bird sat on a stump in the River Severn as I went over the bridge in my home town, Bewdley. Quite an unusual site . I carried on home and went back with camera gear. After finding somewhere to park which is a nightmare at times , I ran down the high street to find the bird still there. I managed to get quite close and got quite a few shots , much to the interest of passers by, who thought it was a black duck !
I only went through these the other night, and noticed this one which shows very nicely the reflection of the Georgian front down the riverside which is one of the attractions of the town.
Not too everyone’s taste, and not my usual style, but it makes a change I suppose !
Cheers

First off a belated many happy returns .Running down the high street at your age!!!!!
Ticks all the right boxes for me .A wing dry would have been the icing , but well spotted and captured. A Severn Valley treat.

It is different for you John but a welcome change.
The coloured reflections make the image :toast:

Great shot John. When I was a teenager my parents had a static caravan near Rock which we used to go to at the weekend and I've got lots of fond memories of fishing the river at Bewdley.

I really like this John. It is made for me by the splashes of colour and the ripple.

Love this shot John and the reflection (thought you didn't like them) make it really special. Like the thought of you running through Bewdley to get a Black Duck!!

I'd totally agress with the others here in that the reflection absolutely makes this shot and I really like how you've composed the image to give space to both elements.

Many Regards

A picture with a story John - the inland migration of the cormorant's ecological evolution is sumed up very well here.
I'd have liked to have seen the bird slightly higher in the frame; this repositioning would have also resulted in less of the non-reflecting water at the top from being included.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris
Absolutely right ! I tried to in fact but there's a stepp grass bank at that point and I wasn't going to risk it. (Not with so many folks around anyway !! )
