I don't know enough about your everyday average deer's life, so to anyone who would know, was this guy (or gal) a spotted fawn hiding in the grass earlier in the spring? Or is he/she older than that? I'm inclined to think the former.

I don't think so. Its probably a yearling but it does have strange coloring.
The fawns are just being born now in my neighborhood. It seems to me they are born in June to very early July each year.
Regardless, its a real nice capture Todd.

I don't know about the age, but it's a cool shot. I really like the shaggy, I just woke up, look.

Man, this is outstanding in every way!
Wonderful colors and sharpness, with a perfect backdrop.
You're really on a roll during this sojourn!
We're getting some amazing thunderstorms here.
Hope you're getting the same, and that they're an asset and not a liability for you.

Paul & John K., are you referring to the deer, or ME?!

Definitely a compelling capture...
BTW, I watched twice over the last 3 days a doe chase a the same coyote out of some thickets. Definitely protecting a new born.

Yup, a yearling "teenager" with some winter hairs still clinging.
