Good stuff Guy
Had one come in the office window the other night. I leave it open with a light trap on , resting on the sill.
I used to stroke the thorax with a paint brush (artists ! ) and they would open the wings a bit more to show the "Eyes " which are a warning to predators.
The heavy foliage at the top is a bit eye grabbing to me but no big deal.
Cheers
John

Excellent stacking technique. Image fine just as it is IMHO. Not seen a hawk moth (of any species) around here for at least twenty years.

Excellent shot of a real beauty. The complimentary colours in the background look great and lots of detail on the moth too. Great technique too!
It's often very difficult to get these guys being defensive to show the 'eyes' but it is well up to your usual high standard for macro work Guy and very pleasing. Complimentary colour and great detail.
Thats very nice of a stunning subject, would have liked to see the 'eyes' a bit better buit not a lot you as the photographer can do without possibly disturbing your subject and losing the shot....
Great Moth these Guy its always a pity that the eyes dont show more prominentaly but still a great looking moth.
Just find the sharpening a little over done giving the wings a strange looking texture.

Just a record type of shot but for me it was a very nice find and one I am most pleased with.
