Sunrise RMNP !!!!
This was Fathers Day sunrise at RMNP. Sometimes a guy gets a lucky catch.

And sometimes he accidentally presses his thumb on the "saturate" button a little too long. Those greens look absolutely electric! I think the colors are so counter and so overpowering that it's the first thing I noticed. However, this is a beautiful pic, a great moment captured.

Why is it everytime I go to RMNP for sunrise, I get perfectly clear cloudless skies. :frown:
Nice scene. I'm not a student of the "perfectly accurate depiction of a scene" school of landscape photography, but the saturation does look a little heavy handed here.

Nice shot. Love the comp and the color of the clouds.

I'm not bothered at all by the saturation. I'm not sure how you took the photo, but it doesn't seem too far from how Fuji Velvia might depict it. No disrespect to the previous posters, but I think we sometimes get hung up on deciding that colors should look "natural" when that definition is a widely varying personal preference. I have no problem crafting a photo in vivid color if that is how I remembered the scene I captured, even if someone else might remember it differently. You got some great clouds here and did a nice job of pulling detail out of the pine needles.

This is incredibly gorgeous, Klaus. I love everything about it.

I like it except for one thing. The lower branch really blocks the mountain. I wonder if moving a little left would have helped. Other than that, good shot.

Well, i have to say those colors are seriously out of wack. The gradation on the tree is also bad, from visible at bottom to silhouette just aq bit upward--some fill light might help there, or luminosity work. This will be nice, Klaus, but IMO it needs major reworking.

Lucky catch indeed! Wow. Great shot. I'm not one for absolutes either, but the saturated color overpowers the image - for me. Only the blues/greens.

Looks a bit saturated, but still a beautiful shot. I love this place.

Sweet shot!!! The colors are really awesome, and there's lots to look at. I'd consider toning down the green just a tad, but that's a minor thing.

Great Catch indeed. I was in RMNP this same weekend and the weather was very unpredictable. I did the 4am hike into Dream on Sat. morning and the sun never broke through the clouds, then it rained all afternoon and the zoom on my 17-35mm broke, then it was WINDY and stormy all night but looks like the storm broke into this beautiful scene and I couldn't shake myself from my tent to capture it due to the previous days activities :frown: This shot pours a little salt on the wounds, but it just goes to show, you never know what you'll get unless you put yourself in the position.
Anyway, I agree with Jack that the tree is misplaced in the comp here as it blocks the central point of focus for the eye (mountain tops). If you were able to make the tree less of the object and more a counter point/balance that would be much more agreeable to me. If the tree is supposed to be the object, it is too dark and there needs to be more detail in the shadows, or if you're going for the silhouette effect, maybe a lower perspective to the ground would have worked better (tree would have been silhouetted against bright sky, mountain tops would have been visible). I'll give you that the greens did SEEM electric from all the rain that weekend, but a little off on the color balance as other's have noted. But-good shot that can still be enhanced w/ rework...
