Snapping turtle
Caught this guy traveling across a pasture this morning. This is the best smile I could get. Not sure he liked the interuption in his journey. Shot several different views from tight heads to wide shots both coming and going just hard to get one that was real good and you don't get the chance to shot many of them for practice. All the others I had seen all year had already encountered vehicles to their dismay. Hadn't posted for a while nothing I shot stood out enough. C&C if you like.

Nice closeup of the Snapper, Kendall. Not having seen the inside of a Snapper's mouth before, I'm curious as to what the black spot is on the bottom jaw?

Now that's a big turtle. I've never run across one in the wild; thanks for sharing this image.

Nice Catch. I've seen lots of them along the road searching for a nesting place. I've also seen a number of folks helping them across the road although I wouldn't want to tangle with one of them.

That is a little hole in his tongue, in order to lure in his meal while lying still on the river floor (or creek, lake, ocean, whatever) a red, organy worm like tissue will kind of hang out from its mouth and move around like a worm. The little fish comes in to check it out, and WHAM! You know what happens next. Awesome creatures.
