Birds of a Feather
I took photos of some cliff swallows gathering mud for nests at Felsenthal NWR this morning. When I got home it seems there were some Barn Swallows in the mix. This is a diptych of both species present this morning. Notice the distinctive markings on the head of each.

Larry - Cliff swallows are the ones most often seen under bridges. However, Barn Swallows sometimes choose to build in such places as well. The swallows I was watching were nesting in an old, dead cypress out in the lake. They are nothing if not adaptable.

Daniel

A very interesting topic of challenging species to photograph I'd be interested to know the techs details you used.

These shots take me back to my childhood wanderings around the family farm in Nebraska. The swallows loved the old barns that graced the property. Thanks for taking me back (ahhumm) a few years.
