Minimalist Barn Owl
This barn owl was hunting along a strip of woodland just before sunset. Does it work for anyone?

420mm, f5.6, 1/200, iso 100 (approx -3 from metered exposure)

Slight crop, a quick curves adjustment and a couple of spots cloned from the background to give the uniform black, then some usm.

Thanks for looking,

Billy

Hi Billy,

Nice idea, but for me, I think it needs something in th FG, like a bit of habitat or something.
As is, I do however think it would work in BW. Think the Barn Owl looks a little soft to.

Regards

For this to work Billy that Owl needs to be a lot larger in the frame IMO.
As said it does look a little on the soft side.

Nits mentioned, I like the loneliness of the owl in the frame, and the light on the face Billy   :wavey:

Yes, nearly. A bit bigger in the frame and it would be a very attractive image, but I agree with the others, it looks a bit soft really. I think that although the black makes it stand out beautifully, there is just too much of it.
