Great Crested Flycatcher
I went out to the pond of a friend to photograph egrets and herons, but found this very accommodating flycatcher sitting on the sill of an old birdhouse on the fence surrounding it. It just stood there with a green grub in its beak. Image taken from car window.

40D, 500mm, f/6.3, 1/200s, ISO 200, cropped to 65% of FF.

Unusual bird, at least here in MO. Don't recall ever seeing one of them. Nice detail Dan.

lucky capture :), these birds are often very skittish around here; I like the detail and the grub, to bad there isn't a little more life in the eye

Strictly speaking I don't care much for the birdhouse setting but the amazing tonality and fine detail of the flycatcher trumps that in spades! Another beauty Daniel.
