Hi All,
Hope you're all well.
Here's one from last weekend that I've only just got round to processing. I was fighting against the breeze, but a few turned out ok. I got a few closer up, but I preferred this one due to the comp and pose.
I don't do too much macro work, so I would appreciate all C and C!
Techs:
D200, Sigma 180mm. 1/350sec @f8. 200 ISO.
Thanks for looking!

Don't no much about macro either, but I know this is a very nice image with lovely colours and BG, and I love the composition, and the thistle

Nice composition Dawn. I'm trying to improve my macro photography, so I'm no expert, but it looks sharp and has a nice background so you're on the right lines IHMO.

Can't criticise - don't know enough about macro - but it looks fabulous to me, full of detail, and a superb background too.

At the risk of being hypercritical I would crop some off the bottom of the thistle to put more emphasis on the insect with its superb proboscis. A great BG as well.
these are not the easiest butterflies to photograph as they don't tend to stay still for long. You've done a nice job here Kim. The butterfly is perhaps a bit small relative to the size of the perch, but you've still done a good job. Nice lighting and detail and I like the fact the proboscis is extended.
Yes if the thistle had been single headed it would have been better but its still a decent capture of a sometimes difficult subject.
I never thought time would fly by so quickly when you start to do these.
Indeed a very difficult Butterfly to photograph, the breeze has been a bane so far this year... This is a nice result, you seem to have been battling some quite harsh light too, slightly overcast helps a great deal.
I might trim a tad from the bottom but that is no deal breaker... the angle of view shows the skipper very well and the sharpness appears to be good.
