Barn Owl
Went back this evening for more of my Hares and guess what they didnt perform quite so well.
To my surprise along came this fella having said to wife earlier that I had never seen a Barn Owl at this site ever since I had been watching it.
The BG is rusty corrugated tin on the side of an old barn that is burnt out.

That's a stunner the burnt out corrugated sidings enhances the capture. Great light.

Lovely capture Major - I think the BG works very well with the especially pale looking bird - nice work :wavey:

I love the portrait, but unlike the other viewers I find the bg distracting. On my first look I was just puzzled as to what it was. The explanation obviously covers it, but the picture without this explanation would just leave me questioning what it is, and the pic of the bird deserves to be remembered - not "what was that bg"

Sorry. Beautiful bird shot. :toast:

Points taken about the BG but you must remember this is a Barn Owl who associates with humans and their enviroment be their barns be built of brick, tin or wood.
Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.( Its not the best BG in the world)

The backgrounds a barn, the birds a barn owl...works perfectly for me. Really good looking owl he is too! I like the composition, the soft lighting, the way his colour pallet matches the stone he's perched on...All in all - a cracker! :toast:

Superb image. If I could get a shot like that I wouldn't care what was in the background

The linear background would have left me confused without explaination but as a study a cracking shot.

Looks good Major, can't help thinking the owl looks a little washed out though!

Interesting background, not sure whether it works photographically, but its a good habitat shot!

Tim this is a very light individual with virtually no colouration around the head etc.
You would be amazed at the variation and sometimes you do get people not in the know reporting thse as Snowy Owls I think.

Works nicely, it would really have complemented the BO if there was more brown of the owl showing, but we can't have everything !

Great stuff !
