I've been watching a patch of Columbine on Old Stage Road for a couple of weeks, hoping to catch them in full bloom. After several trips up an increasingly washboard road (I think there are parts of my car up there somewhere) my trip this morning after work was finally fruitful!

The wind was blowing pretty good up there this morning, so I had to bump up the ISO to 400 to get a decent shutter speed. I had to toss a bunch of shots due to movement blur.
All were shot with a 50D and Tamron 90mm macro.

Beautiful flowers!
Nice backgrounds on the first two. You may want to slightly darken the bright green on #3.
Of particular interest are the two green stems meeting right behind the flower on #1. I really like that!
#2 is a textbook classic image of a columbine.
Hi Bob,
I love Columbines! I think I've become addicted to flower photography lol.
I agree w/ John, the backgrounds on the first 2 are nice, the flowers really stand out.

Your patience was well rewarded, Bob!

The brightness of the background in the third one got past me. I'll have to work on toning it down.
