We are heading down late August to stay for a few nights - any recommendations on a good bed and breakfast or other place to stay?

No but they have a reall cool lighthouse real close to the main drag. I shot it midday with kind of harsh light. I think a good sky at sunrise would be nice to see.

I always stay at the Crescent City Beach Motel. It is the only one on the beach - south side of town on 101. It is just a motel though not a super fancy place, but clean and you can be on the ocean side with a nice view with a sand beach. Problem is the weather needed to shoot redwoods is much different than shooting sunsets/sunrise because you need fog. Between the two pray for fog because the the redwoods are special. You can shoot the lighthouses any time :)

Thanks for the help, Phil. Agree about the fog.... I chatted with Aaron on the Beach in Bandon last week and he felt that I should get some fog there in August, so I will be hoping!!
