Its been a slow season in Pueblo, but last night the north and east sides got a decent show. I was shooting from my driveway (folks, this is stupid and dangerous, dont even think of doing this! )
as the storm got closer, i realized there was a patch of sunflowers growing on the side of the road. 'Too bad i cant get those in the fg' I thought. Then i realized that if i cranked up all the house lights it would be enough to light the fg for my 20 s exposures. This is probably the best of the couple dozen shots i got off before it started to rain.
No it was caused by the winds, Jack
I was ready to run though

That first one is great, and really creative! The yellow flowers compliment the rich blue color very nicely, and really sets this apart from standard lightning shots. Plus, if you hadn't said it was your driveway, I'd have thought it was out in the wild!
Wow, Stan, these are very cool. I like them all, but there is something ominous about #3 that I find appealing. Appealing as in "my house just got vaporized by a big bolt of lightning"

Pretty cool, Stan.
I was in a plane landing between storms about 9:30pm last night. It was pretty exciting to watch the lightning on both sides of the plane as we threaded our way. I was wishing I had a camera handy!
I really like the first one. The bolt is very dramatic and I think the flowers work as a foreground with it. The flowers are a bit too blurred on the second one and are becoming a distraction. I like the last one too, wouldn't mind seeing it cropped a little tighter.
Oh My Goodness. These, especially the first one, are just georgous. I have been trying for a while for a lightening flash. I am trying to capture from the back of my van tho.
Stan, these are really nice! What I like about them is how they show the birthplace of the bolts within the clouds. (I was going to say "Fire of Unknown Origins," since I just saw Blue Öyster Cult in Aspen last Sunday, but we kind of see the origins of the fire.)
Wow! How did I miss this one Stan? Did you just try to time the shots manually? I always wondered how to get these. Love them all, but I think #4 is my fav

What a great idea you had, and the execution was flawless.
You ignored the standard disclaimer and "tried this at home" and came out a winner!
#1 is just awesome...very unique and creative. Nice, nice shot.
