I'm heading out there in a few weeks to shoot some wildflowers and general scenery. Stopping at Crested Butte area first, then on to the San Juans.
I don't know Crested Butte very well at all. Can you give me some wildflower locations in that area? I know about Gothic road and Rustler Gulch, but that's about it.
Thanks

Washington Gulch. Hmm? Google Earth shows it 1/2 mile east of Crested Butte. I suspect that is not quite correct.
Yes/no? Directions if that is incorrect.

Jack, that would be great as I am heading either there next weekend or American Basin or Yankee Basin. Some are saying the Lake Irwin area is going to be very good since that area has received a lot of rain.

We shot sunrise at Lake Irwin today and it was great. We had another agenda for wildflowers so we didnt scout Irwin for wildflowers. We did see a few in the field as we were heading out. Slate River road was by far the best. Washington Gulch was good down low but not much up high. Gothic Road had some great color down low, up to about Gothic, after that, not much. Some very light color at Paradise divide. Dont waste your time with Rustler Gulch. I would think it should be much better next week.
