Steve, I would say you are one hard person to keep up with. Your overall devotion & hard work to the photographic art world as we know it from our perspective here at NPN is second to none.
Congratulations on this very fine image and honor too.
Richard, thank you for taking the time to post this comment here at CANP also.
Richard, Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it. Guess I should be twitting too.
And thank the rest of you too!
Jeffrey, thanks. I still have the rights to the full res image and they have free rights for a smaller version. I have sold the rights to Tamron USA and a few other companies as well. A small peice of notoriety has it's price and can go a long way. Small steps like this get the ball rolling for most struggling photographers so until the day comes when I see the image being used where I get nothing out of it, I won't be frowning.
Images that can't be duplicated by another aritst are the one we should worry about losing any rights to. I'll make sure to post any positives or negatives that come from this NatGeo contest.
One thing to really do is read the fine print for any contest and then if you are ok with the contract submit the minimum size required and compress your jpeg to a reasonable amount.

I hope you were able to retain rights to this image. Sadly, that's why I don't enter the NG contests.
