Small pearl Bordered
Smallpearl Bordered Fritillary.
Just about over now, but managed to get one looking pretty good.
This hot weather certainly makes them zip around a bit !

Thats a beauty, great DoF and I like the central position on this one!

lovely colours and detail John. I'd prefer to see the butterfly on the diagonal a bit more but still a very nice shot.

Thanks both.
Can't make my mind up over this. I am going more away from this sort of "clinical " look for want of a better expression. They are getting a bit like the "bird on a twig" and Lord knows I've got a few of those !
Cheers
John

Not the best of compositions, but still a nice record shot.

I'm with Lewis here and it certainly isn't a record shot, with its wings spread the central composition works, on the diagonal would be nice too, but this is nice as presented...

Like it very much John, have just bought a macro lens and if mine turn out half as good as this I will be delighted.

This really pops for me Johh, right out of the screen!

I think the colours of the subject in contrast with the dark background make composition irrelevant, from the crisp antennae all the way out to the wings, very well executed... I could argue with myself and say the plant it's sat on draws my eye a little, but the colours are so good its negligible. Top work.

The subject stands out really well against the background showing off the super colours & details.
A great looking image John
