Burrowing Owl
I photographed this B owl chick from a blind at Rocky Mountain Arsenal NWR this morning. Surprisingly, this was the only chick to surface - there are usually at least three in a brood. This little guy was entertaining, though and the changing light made things interesting.

I selected this location because I had seen the adult pair yesterday and wanted a clean burrow, void of binder weed, with a grassy backdrop.

So cute!

Is that really what he was sayin'? These are great, Dave. These things always look like they've got an adult head on a baby body, but they are just so cool. Great job!

Great images Dave, lucky you have a blind. I noticed an awful lots of mosquitoes out there too much to my surprise.

Both are fantastic. I really like borrowing owls, they seem very expressive! You had some nice light to work with too.

Those are great! They both have a lot of character in different ways. Definately gets the "ohhhh" reaction from me.

Dave, these are terrific! I have yet to photograph a burrowing owl. Love the expressions of the second image and the tone in the first.
