Friday was the only morning I had available this week to go shoot. of course I was out in a cloudy morning with some rain showers. And so I tried to capture the "blue mood" the morning provided at Bierstad lake. Looked to me like no one else was in the area and it was nice to have a place in RMNP without the crowds.

A couple hours later the sky cleared and had a nice hike around glacier basin with about 500 other people.

C&C always welcome

It could use a little sharpening for web, and the blues look a little electric, but if that is the artistic statement you want to make, fine by me. I really like the comp and light. Maybe clone out the grass in the llc.

I agree with Morris's assessment, a tad too electric blue for my taste; but it does definitely portray a mood, and that sounds like is what you were aiming for!. My only real nit is that the reflected patch of snow right hand side is a tad too bright, it draws the eyes, maybe try and darken it. Nice composition for sure!.

Thanks for the comments on the comp, colors and grasses. I guess you are correct, it is a close match in places for an electric blue. I agree with you Nick that the snow field on the rhs is a bother. The reflection of it having grass in it muddles that part as well. I'll have to work on that a little and see if I can reduce the contrast, or look for a composition where I aimed more to the left.

I do like the comp here, Steve. I always struggle with grass and I think you did a nice job. I have the same nits as Morris and Nick, but the sharpening bothers my eye more than the blues.

Thanks for the input Paul. Glad to read that the composition works for you as well.

I am surprised by the sharpening comments as it looked sharp enough on my monitor and I did not want to over-sharpen the image. I will have to take note of this in future posts.

I too am surprised by the sharpening comments but as I've seen it really depends on monitors and how we each have ours set up. I tend to ignore those anyway. I love your compositioning and the concept of what you were communicating!

Thanks for the comments James. I am glad to read that you did not find the image too soft and that you liked the composition.
