I just home a little while ago from watching the fireworks over Wilson Lake. This was the first time I've managed to be there for the display, despite trying for many years :). I had a great look at the display, but all the boats were off to the side. I have an idea for a better vantage point for the next time. I hope everybody had a safe 4th of July.
Nice capture Rob. The reflections on the water from the fireworks and the lights give a good dimension and depth to the shot. I like the colors and streaks of light in different lengths from the fireworks. We had heavy cloud cover and only saw a few from the homes nearby.

I only recall once ever having seen fireworks over a lake and that was many years ago. I don't remember the glow on the water as shown here but that's probably because I was focused on what was going on in the sky.
I'm glad you were finally able to make the display over Wilson Lake. Thanks for sharing this Rob.
Nicely composed and beautiful color, Rob. I especially like the detail you pulled out in the sky.
I experienced the same dilema with the boats, or lack thereof - the tendancy is for them to stay a safe distance from where the fireworks are set-off, and to get a better viewing angle off to the side.
Thanks everybody. Wayne, the fireworks were being fired directly in front of us, so the intensity of the color in the water is due to this proximity to the explosions. I've seen two other fireworks over water displays, once in Clear Lake, Iowa, and then at Disney in Florida. Naturally, Disney's show was amazing, but the display in Clear Lake was very impressive.
