Had a short woodland pool session before the deluge. Scuppered that again. water everywhere after today.
This shows how the angle of the bird and the hide distance work well on a shallow depth of field.

Nice portrait of this beautiful male, like the ripples in the water which gives the image a sense of movement for me,nice detail in the bird+droplets of water on the birds back
Thanks very much both.
To everyone-
Sorry I am not commenting as much as normal but my connection has been appalling just lately. Something wrong somewhere.( Not on broadband though )

Despite the DBs John it's a very nicely composed shot with lots of detail right down to the water droplets on the back of the bird. Great colours and it all works very well for me. Nice one..
Needs more DOF particularly in the foreground, different viewpoint would solve this, I suspect the easiest way, would be some pool redesign. Otherwise a very nice capture.
Not sure what happenened, but I was unablle to leave a comment earlier as the 'Reply' box had vanished for a while. It seems to have magically reappeared now though

There are a couple of dark spots in the water on the upper right hand side which might be better cloned out.
Sorry its not too technical a reply

Yeah, lovely job John! Was just going to mention the dark spot before reading Ian's reply. Not much more to say other than "nice"
