Taken over the weekend and still whilst the wind was howling away.. Had to climb into a Dog rose in order to get this shot. It was sitting on a leaf well above my head height but with some awkward maneuvering I managed to get one or two I was happy with. I think it's chowing down on a small fly of some sort..
Kind regards,

Nice one, Brett. There are now two species of red-eyed damselfly in this country. This one looks like the large one to me - up to 35mm long, compared to 26 mm for the small red-eyed. I presume you don't remember the size. Great shot whatever.
Hi David, having looked at the BDS website I'm inclined to think that this is in-fact a Small - Red eyed damselfly (Erythromma viridulum).. From a small pond near the coast which fits with it's known distribution here in the SE.. But difficult call and I'm certainly no expert on these so maybe we can ask PhilH as his colleague has a good knowledge of these.
