I went out today to the coast. I took about 40 photos on my D2x. All seemed fine while photographing. I returned home and tried to download the images. Windows says files are corrupted and it can't read the card, but the files all show up when I navigate to the folder on the card. The file sizes seem correct as well. I place the card back in the camera, and the camera says the files have no image data! I take a photo in my studio it shows up on LCD just fine. Did I toast the files by accident, maybe while changing a lens at the end of the day? Is there any hope of getting my photos? HELP. Any thoughts?

There are several programs for image recovery. Do a search on line and several free applications will show up. SanDisk supplies recovery software with their cards.

Try this one http://www.photosrecovery.com/

After recovering your images try to reformat your card and do some testing before you totally rely on the card again.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

In years past we paid a company to do the job for us with complete success, though expensive at around $100 per card. I've lost the link to the company, simply because the program that comes with SanDisk cards works so well. As Ed points out, be sure to reformat and test the card after you recover your images. Fortunately, in our experience it's never been a recurring problem with any card.

The latest is Klix from

www.joesoft.com

It works when others won't.

Form the sound of your message you are one of those types who has to learn to slow down and methodically remove data cards properly so that they don't become corrupted.

I speak from personal experience!!

If possible, copy the data off the card to your computer, and run the recovery programs on that data. That way the card data is still on the card, and any program you try won't ruin it further. Some recovery programs will do this for you within the program...

If you contact the manufacturer, they will help you out. The software is free - dont buy any other software
