Common Tern in flight
Taken at my local reservoir in late afternoon light. I've been down to here a few times trying to get something different than the usual side on flight shot but I was really pleased with this from the session.

Cropped slightly.

Canon 40D
Canon 500mm f4 L IS
ISO 250
1/2000sec
f/6.3

Very nice Ian, nicely framed and exposed. A bit of a sharpening halo visable around the head and belly but just a small nit.

Thanks for that Edwin, never even noticed it. Must be careful of that in the future. Never know how much to sharpen it for web use.

Of course it depends on how sharp the image is in-camera. Just try smart sharpen 100/0,3 to start with. Place the cursor on the image in smart sharpen and click the image to see before/after. Of course do the sharpening after resizing to 720 pix. Hope this helps.

Nice BIF shot, well captured as these birds can move, nice colours and blue sky  :wavey:

Hello Ian.

Nice capture and I find the image nice and crisp in the sharpening area, which is how I like them. But it does some times leave you with a halo in some parts of the image.

I just normaly blow the 720 dpi image up to 500% and select the clone tool, and a very small clone brush. One to Two pixels and juct clone it away.
