Columbine Lake Moonlight
I had a blast shooting the full moon up at Columbine Lake in the San Juans, where I camped for a quick overnighter last night. I was surprised that the lake was still so frozen this late in the season, but it worked well for the moonlight!

This shot was 60" at f/3.2 at ISO 200, Olympus E-620.

This will be my last jaunt in Colorado for a while... I'm headed to Norway on Saturday!!! I hope you all have a great summer with a plethora of wildflowers! :toast:

Oooooh! Sweet stuff and a nice primer for Norway. I love the opener - so different from any other moon shots.....and amazing detail at f3.2. The sunset shot is destined to be a classic that needs to be printed BIG! Safe travels! :wavey:

I really like the comp and the mood in this shot! Nice! :toast: I also like the reflection shots in your gallery. Looks like you had a good trip.

Beautiful Series! Those full moon shots are awesome. I remember a moonlight hike up Grays and Torres peaks some 30 years ago...an incredible experience at sunrise.
Have a great trip. We will look forward to seeing some great landscape images when you return.

Awesome series, Jack -- the sunrise and sunset shots are sweet and it looks like you had nice conditions for such an exposed location. I am jealous that you're headed to Norway, its on my short list of places to go -- and I have family there to catch up with. Safe travels!

This shot is soooo cool, Jack! Looks like an alien landscape. I like the sunrise one too. Have fun in Norway

Very cool image. The position of the moon is excellent. Can't wait to see what you come back with from Norway.

More awesome work, Jack. I'm not real crazy about the moon photo but the others are all really nice. Have a blast in Norway!

Wow! #1132: Morning reflection in Columbine Lake is breathtaking, as is your tent shot right after. They're all excellent, but those are standouts to my eye. And quite frankly, I'm astonished that there's ANY ice left on ANY lake in the San Juans at this point.

Have a good and safe time traveling, Jack. If what you bring back is even half as good as what you accomplished in NZ, it'll be a helluva trip report.

A very cool collection of shots, Jack. My favorite is the sunrise reflection shot (I'm always a sucker for those). I've wanted to know what the area around that lake looks like so I'm glad you posted these. Have a great time in Norway!

Great set Jack. The shot posted and the sunrise reflections really stand out.
Have a great trip.

Very nice indeed. What part(s) of Norway are you headed for?

Thanks all for the comments!

Erik - I don't have an itinerary but my rough plan is to head up north all the way through the country, checking out the fjords along the way. My main destination is the Lofoten Islands. From there, who knows.... I'll have a rental car the whole time so that I can lug around all my 4x5 gear.
