Redwoods NP
In June of 2009 I went to Redwoods NP.
Not getting any much hoped for fog, I
did appreciate the even lighting of
cloudy skies for two days.

Canon 10D
Tamron 28-300 Zoom Lens
Manfrotto Tripod
White Balance--cloudy or shade

Very nice Robert, despite the lack of fog you managed to find a lovely scene. The highlighted maples are a perfect touch, and the trunks give balance and anchors to the image. The white balance seems too warm for me - which usually happens when selecting 'cloudy'.

Thanks, Floris, for the white balance point. In the future I'll try to
watch that more closely when selecting "cloudy".

Robert, I like the comp here. I think this particular image actually works better without fog, because with fog you would lose natural glow from the maple leaves. I agree about the WB. Personally I'm often not satisfied with the presets and have to play with the WB sliders in Adobe RAW.

I love the way the maples and moss covered trunks pop against the redwood background. Well seen and captured!

White balance is off. I'd darken the background to extract the front tree from the scene.

Robert, you should be getting somewhat of a green cast from the canoply light that does something to the color but it is a little warm. You could easily correct the file in lightroom or try the white black point compensation via curves adjustment. The tree is placed nice in the comp and is not chaotic at all.
