My nikon D2x broke down at the weekend, was shooting a fast moving subject and something locked up. looking through the viewfinder it looks like the dof preview button is pushed down. i have no use of any lense functions and hardly any light is reaching the sensor. even wide angle lenses are down to 15 secs to get an image. if i open the aperture ring everything works, except it doesn't because i have an "f e e" error message, requiring me to lock it back to f 32 or whatever. manual mode should override this, but it doens't. the dof previewe lever is freemoving, and the button produces a sound although less difference in the darkening of the preview. if that makes sense.
nikon support suggest i send it to them, just wondering if anyone on here has suffered the same thing and had any suggestions??
is this the little arm that pokes out just behind the lens mount near to the dof prev button? this is free moving and does as nikon tech suggests it should..oh well..looks like i will have to send it off..
I had what sounds like the same thing with my D2H. By then it had 260,000 shots on it.
I was told it was the shutterbox ? and was informed that they had to replace the whole unit at a cost of £250
