Reed Bunting
Inspired by Rob Howard's photograph of the same species on here afew months ago, an opportunity presented itself in the form of this chap singing away, minus the morning breath. It was early evening and the light was fading, the sky, and sandunes can be seen in the background, taken on the northeast coast last week, I wanted to get as much of the surrounding in as I could.

Yea, Craig,

Quite bright on my screen. The composition suits the background well. I reckon some folk will prefer the focal point further to the left but the profile style makes it work well.

Hi Craig,
a very nice spring feeling comes up here,
I like the soft colors of the background,
the bird stands out good, composition is fine too

Hi Craig,

It is always good to see something a little different to the norm. The tones in the repost look better,
For me I think the subject could be larger in the frame and still have the feeling of space and isolation.
I suspect it would look good printed onto a canvas.

Cheers

Austin

Craig, I like the space, but I just feel that the bird is too small in the frame for me. I'd personally prefer a closer crop and losing half of the perch below, which looked 'busy' for the minimal form you're striving for here. I've just had a quick go myself and it looks a lot more cleaner and powerful.

Thanks for that Des, I was going to crop it, but in the end I left it as 'shot' . Agree it does look more powerful;cropped etc as I have just had a go myself. Thanks again  :wavey:

Yes the image certainly gives an impression of isolation, but I think the bottom half of the perch should go as mentioned.

Hello Craig.

Like the sence of room in this one, but I do think the crop idea would make it stronger.

Love this Craig. The muted b/g colours are superb, and show the bird off well, however, as said, a tad larger in the frame would be nice.

Very nice indeed.

Hi Craig,

For me there is too much space to the left although this is what you were going for? The perch looks pretty good and the bird is singing in a nice pose. The tone are rather subdued but nice.
