So there have been a bunch of problems regarding this body. Personally, I keep getting an Err 99 message when I depress the shutter button and the camera says I should switch off etc...

Once I fiddle with a few settings or remove the battery or remove the card or play with the IS and autofocus then it comes to life and is fine until I switch it off again.

It's had the sub-mirror fix and the latest firmware is installed.

I've hit a busy spell at work and can afford to send it to canon. Is it right they suggest sending it to one of the authorised repair places or can you actually sent it back to Canon themselves.

Finally, has anyone else been in my position and give me an idea of what's wrong how much it cost to fix?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris check this link out, canon offered a free fix for the error 99 in March

http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/cameras/Digital_SLR/EOS-1D_Mark_III.aspx?faqtcmuri=tcm:14-631121

I sent mine to canon for the free accuracy service as it was front focusing, they arranged a courier and turned it round in 72 hours, free of charge.
