Green Leaf Hopper
Cicadela viridis

Having been inspired by a good friends image of one of these a couple of years back, I decided to settle down in the grass to try and have another go last weekend. I didn't realise how difficult they were to capture, until I tried several times unsuccessfully over the last year or two.

I have to put my hands up to 'doctoring' the b/g as there were so many distracting grasses in the original image. And a small crop....

40D,180mm,tripod mounted,ISO400,f13,1/40th sec

That’s a nice clean, sharp shot, what a complicated creature when you look at it in detail!.

fantastic detail in DOF, try cropping in slightly and put it on a diagonal maybe?

I like it Fran, well done, but I think it can do with a tiny bit of extra contrast in PP. :toast:

They ain't easy (I know  ), you have done well here, probably a shame you have had to work the bg as it does show  but a good image of this super little insect.
