Thanks Tim
Just after this shot the little girl tried to put her arms around its neck and I had visions of her ending up 30 ft up in the air
Cheers

Not the usual type of shot we get on here John. There is a story in there, but it's more of a journalistic nature - ie modern man's relationship with 'wildlife'. I might suggest a blurring of the face in the mirror if you where to put this out for publication anywhere.
Thanks all.
I put this on also because I wonder where you draw the line at "captive" To me doing stuff in a safari park is no different from doing say falconry birds at a game fair. - or is it.

Yes they still do - thats what brings in the millions of corvids and gulls!!. I do bird surveys there and thereis some quite good stuff from time to time. The place has improved a great deal since the old days.

From my viewpoint, John, the harder thing is where "captive" starts. All the reptile shots I post are of wild animals, but in most cases they are being very carefully controlled following capture, weighing and measuring for scientific purposes. You could equally argue that any bird set-up where you are using bait is also controlling the behaviour of an otherwise wild animal to a certain extent, let alone the game fairs you mention.
This shot is certainly of captive species, with the girl at least as captive as the giraffe! Interesting shot, and thanks for making a serious point out of it.

"...mmm...nice...I like the cup-holders, leather and the satnav - but I just can't be doing with those flappy-paddle gearboxes.."
