Ive been to the Dunes enough times to make a few friends there, and thanks to them I was granted special permission to do some photography this weekend from the Medano-Zapata Ranch, private land owned by the Nature Conservancy adjacent to the Park. A very cool place, with some very different scenery, really brought me back in time to a simpler era many years ago. Here's a sampler, one more at ESS.
This is sunrise from 'Twin Lakes'; a cool wetland south of the Dunes.
The Skeeters were murder.
One more from Twin Lakes.
That's all for now, once ive finished processing the 300+ shots I'll post the dune shots form the next day (the best photos ive ever taken).
Will catch up on the commenting then
I saw the one on ESS, glad I checked here too, the first one above is amazing, and I like #4 above too with the creek!. What an honour to get permission to photograph here, looks like you certainly captured the beauty of the place!.
Yeah, after the first ones, the last one is fairly blah. But the other ones, oh my. I really like #1 and #2. The only shot I have ever seen with a bison and the sand dunes.
#5 and #6, Stan, are just awesome. The clarity of the mountains in #5 is sweet. As a member of The Nature Conservancy, I've always wondered what this piece of land looked like...now I know. Great series, really.

They're all pretty sweet Stan, and the first 3 are my favorites. Congrats on getting access to a place most people don't get to see, and good job bringing back the images.

A fine series (though I'm not overly fond of the last one).
That first one is just magnificent...hope it was worth all of the bites!
#1 is outstanding! I hope you didn't need a blood transfusion.
#1 and #4 are my fav's here. Thanks for letting us all see a different perspective of the Dunes.
