Philudoria potatoria..
...or Drinker Moth to you and I.. Never seen one of these before let alone capture it through the lens. Have seen the caterpillars in the past so quite pleasure to have the moth as well. The image was taken in daylight and shooting into a shaded area giving this dark BG which was better than the cluttered alternative..

Have a good day,

Brett

Wonderful moth wich i have also come across once.. (see: http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/bbs.cgi?a=vm&mr=32971&CGISESSID=5723b880358b71c19f70ca682649233e&u=12807)
Their colors are very vibrant and their texture is superb.
Well done capturing this one so fine!

Works for me Brett, the dark BG sets the moth off beautifully.

A most attractive looking specimen and a very fine image. Perhaps portrait mode would have worked well too. :toast:

Hello Brett.

Been trying to find one of these my self to go with the caterpillar images I have, but no luck yet.

A fine image but not to sure about the comp.
